Wayfinder · your information

How Citizens Advice Haringey uses your information

The short version: we only collect what we need to help you, we keep it safe in the UK, we never sell it, and the AI that powers this service keeps nothing you type and learns nothing from it.

Who we are

This service ("Wayfinder") is run by Haringey Citizens Advice Bureaux, a registered charity (number 1069301). A company called Whitelabel AI Corporation runs the technology for us, under a contract that follows UK data protection law. Whitelabel's UK contact for data questions is Euverify Ltd (UK), gdpr@euverify.com.

What we collect

What you tell us about your situation, and your postcode (so we can point you to the right local help). If you ask for a call-back or a follow-up email, we'll ask for your phone number or email — only then, and only for that.

Sensitive things you might tell us

People sometimes tell us about their health, money worries, or difficult situations at home. We treat that information with extra care. It's used only to get you the right help, and our safety system uses it to point you to emergency support if you're in danger.

Where your information lives

It's stored in a dedicated, encrypted database in the United Kingdom, and our backups stay in the UK too. What you type is kept out of our system logs. When the AI reads your message to work out how to help — including checking whether you need urgent support — it's processed in the moment, in Europe, and the AI provider keeps nothing afterwards: your words are never stored by them and never used to train AI. If you ask us to email you, it's sent by our email service — like a lot of email, that means it's handled in the USA on the way, with UK-approved safeguards protecting it, and it's only ever the email you asked for. The full list of companies that help run this service is on our who-helps-run-this page. See who helps run this service →

How long we keep it

12 months from your last visit, then it's deleted. If an adviser takes on your case, their records are kept under Citizens Advice Haringey's usual policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or ask us to stop using it. Email advice@haringeycabx.org.uk and we'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

If you're in danger right now

Don't worry about any of this — call 999, or find urgent help on our safety page. Urgent help →
